WHY IS AN AUDIENCE NEEDED IN MEDIA STUDIES?
Media needs an audience because without an audience, the media serves no purpose and therefore would not exist.
Audience is essential in media studies. We, as consumers, are targeted and positioned according to our culture, class, gender, ethnicity etc.
PRIMARY AUDIENCE:
A particular Group at which a product such as a film or advertisement is aimed at.
SECONDARY AUDIENCE:
The secondary audience is viewers who fall outside the primary demographic, but still want to buy or consume the product.

DEMOGRAPHICS - Social Status / Class
A - Upper middle class
B - Middle class
C1 - Lower middle class
C2 - Skilled Working class
D - Working class
E - Unemployed
PSYCHOGRAPHICS:
The classification of people according to attitudes aspirations
Aspirers - People who want to appear rich and attractive.
Reformers - People who want social change, are unimpressed by status and make decisions based on their values.
Explorers - Adventurous people who like taking risks.
Mainstreamers - People who follow the crowd.
Strugglers - People who find it hard to achieve (Often connected to poverty).

Who is the intended target audience?
Targeted in-between middle and lower middle class people.
How are they being targeted?
Being targeted through the use of slow music, and the idea of convenience.
Can you identify an intended demographic?
Intended for young adults 20-30 who may have just moved in
What psychographic groups are being targeted? How?
The man is an explorer because he went out at night and took a risk to look for pickles.
